WHEREAS, the Obama Academy of International Studies Boys Basketball Team, has demonstrated exceptional dedication, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the 2025-2026 season. Their achievements include an overall 20-10 record (while being 6-2 in the City League) and District 8’s City League Champions for the first time since 2021, as well as Regional Champions; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Naron Jackson, Assistant Coaches Terrance Grate & Darrelle Porter, inspired this gifted team by teaching the importance of dedication, teamwork, sportsmanship and commitment; and
WHEREAS, the team’s 2025-2026 roster made up of exceptional students Jaden Colbert #1, Elijah Rawlings #2, Sean Gaines #3, Naron Jackon II #4, Darnell Turner #5, Gavin Hazlip #10, Zion Conner #11, Lanell Holiday #12, Sheikh Long #13, Leonard Prince #14, Jordan Colbert (#15), Braylon Clark (#20), Stephen Malloy (#21), Noah Griffin (#22), Robert Wright (#25), Eric James (#34)- all exemplify leadership, resilience and unity.
WHEREAS, the hard work and diligence of Team Captains Naron Jackson II, Zion Conner and Jaden Colbert, led the Obama Boys Basketball Team to runner up status in the PIAA State Playoffs, which made them the 1st City League Team to compete for the State Title in 10 years. Naron Jackson II was selected for 4A First Team All-State and Eric James was selected for 4A Second Team All-State.
WHEREAS, through rigorous training, teamwork & a commitment to excellence both on and off the court, the Obama Academy of International Studies Boys Basketball Team has risen to meet every challenge, culminating in an historic & unforgettable season.
