Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Pastor Ruth Lattimore for her inspirational and visionary leadership; and, sterling Christian service; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, September 24, 2013, to be “Pastor Ruth Lattimore Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Pastor Ruth Lattimore was born in Alliance, Ohio; the daughter of Mr. Sanford Kirksey and Mrs. Lula Kirksey-Teague and moved to the Pittsburgh area at the age of 21.  Pastor Lattimore's ministry has spanned over 60 years; 22 of those years have been as the appointed pastor of the Good Samaritan Lighthouse Church of God in Christ 1030 N Lang Ave, Pittsburgh, PA.; and,
 
WHEREAS, on September 8, 1951 Pastor Ruth Lattimore was married to Mr. Joseph Lattimore. In many of the years following their marriage her husband Joseph played an instrumental part in her ministry until his death. From this union they were blessed with two children, Joseph Lattimore Jr. (dec'd) and Lynn (Lattimore) Perry of Pittsburgh PA. She is also the proud grandmother of Shawn Brown, Lacy Lattimore-Wong, Jonathan Perry and Amber Perry; and,   
 
WHEREAS, during her ministry at Good Samaritan Church, Pastor Lattimore has served as the spiritual leader for many throughout the Pittsburgh community. While leading her church and taking care of her family; she also found time to develop programs in her storefront church that benefited transient women and the homeless. She also finds time to visit hospitals, convalescent homes and prisons; and,
 
WHEREAS, Good Samaritan Church is also the site of Coach Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers Thanksgiving Turkey Give-A-Way. Pastor Lattimore continues to serve the Homewood community with a food bank, feeding hundreds of families monthly. In this manner she cares for the needs of mankind; and,    
 
WHEREAS, On October 6, 2013 Pastor Lattimore at the age of 83 years old will be celebrated for her labor of love and ministry towards her parishioners, extended community and humanity, and for her faithfulness to God and his word; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Pastor Ruth Lattimore for her inspirational and visionary leadership; and, sterling Christian service; and,
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, September 24, 2013, to be "Pastor Ruth Lattimore Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
