Title: WHEREAS, December 1st is World Aids Day and thousands of events with the slogan "Stop AIDS. Keep the Promise" are occurring around the world the goal of raising awareness of the AIDS epidemic; and, WHEREAS, the House of Infiniti has been dedicated to HIV and AIDS awareness in the Gay, Bisexual, Lesbian and Transgender community for over seventeen years national, winning an abundance of ballroom leadership and community service awards; and, WHEREAS, the House of Infiniti Pittsburgh was established in August, 2006 with the mission to "Enhance the health and wellness of Gay, Bisexual, Lesbian and Transgender youth through education, leadership, sportsmanship and integrity;" and, WHEREAS, both the Lambda and Three Rivers Community Foundations recognized the importance of House of Infiniti Pittsburgh's mission by funding the House of Infiniti's first major event in the city of Pittsburgh in conjunction with World AIDS Day - "Project D.E.E.P (Drugs & Alcohol Abuse, Employment, ...

WHEREAS, December 1st is World Aids Day and thousands of events with the slogan "Stop AIDS.  Keep the Promise" are occurring around the world the goal of raising awareness of the AIDS epidemic; and,
 
WHEREAS, the House of Infiniti has been dedicated to HIV and AIDS awareness in the Gay, Bisexual, Lesbian and Transgender community for over seventeen years national, winning an abundance of ballroom leadership and community service awards; and,
WHEREAS, the House of Infiniti Pittsburgh was established in August, 2006 with the mission to "Enhance the health and wellness of Gay, Bisexual, Lesbian and Transgender youth through education, leadership, sportsmanship and integrity;" and,
WHEREAS, both the Lambda and Three Rivers Community Foundations recognized the importance of House of Infiniti Pittsburgh's mission by funding the House of Infiniti's first major event in the city of Pittsburgh in conjunction with World AIDS Day - "Project D.E.E.P (Drugs & Alcohol Abuse, Employment, Education and Prevention)" Community House Ball; and,
WHEREAS, "Project D.E.E.P" World AIDS Day Community House Ball will be happening on Saturday, December 1st at the Hazelwood YMCA, featuring emcees the Legendary Selvin "Kool-Aid" Mizrahi from Atlanta and Reverend Chris Infiniti, founder of House of Infiniti Pittsburgh as well as competitions including runway, fashion and vogueing; and,
WHEREAS, Project D.E.E.P. World AIDS Day Community House Ball will also raise HIV and ADIS awareness offering free confidential testing and will be supported at the event by the Allegheny General Hospital Positive Health Clinic, Persad Center, Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force, Planned Parenthood of Southwestern PA, New Voices Pittsburgh, Southwest Pennsylvania AIDS Planning Coalition, and the University of Pittsburgh Prevention Project;
 
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes the importance of the House of Infiniti Pittsburgh and the work it has done in the at-risk African-American and Latino Gay, Bisexual, Lesbian and Transgender youth community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh declare Saturday December 1st 2007 to be House of Infiniti Pittsburgh Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
