WHEREAS, On October 25, 2025, the University Prep/Sci-Tech/Obama Academy (USO) affirmed its place in Pittsburgh history by defeating Westinghouse in the City League Football Championship with a resounding score of 26-0; and
WHEREAS, Under the exemplary leadership of Head Coach Lou Berry, who has dedicated 15 years to this program and earned his fourth City League title, the team showcased remarkable teamwork and resilience throughout the season; and
WHEREAS, Prior to the championship, USO displayed an outstanding performance by advancing past the semifinals with a decisive 63-7 victory over Brashear High School on October 17, 2025; and
WHEREAS, This monumental achievement not only represents the culmination of a great season but also serves as an inspiration to young athletes throughout our community and a source of pride for the City of Pittsburgh. Further, we thank Coaches - Lou Berry, Jaylen Coleman, Jerome Mathews, Andre Irish, Jordan Morris, Kenney Langston, Brendan Duckett, Brendan Walls, Ron Gilbert, Sean McCaskill, Ky'Lee Adams, and D'arious Shields, as well as Trainer - Adisa Branch; and
WHEREAS, The triumph of USO is a testament to the hard work and dedication of its key players;

NOW THEREFORE, Ed Gainey, Mayor of Pittsburgh, and City of Pittsburgh Councilman Khari Mosley, do hereby proclaim December 16, 2025, as "2025 USO City League Football Champions Day" in the City of Pittsburgh, honoring the significant victory of the USO football team and celebrating their contributions to the spirit of competition, teamwork, and community pride.
