WHEREAS, the Mayor’s Office of Equal Protection endeavors to make all City operations, processes, communications, facilities, and activities accessible to people with disabilities.

 

WHEREAS, in 1990 the Federal Government enacted the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) which requires all public organizations to adopt a Transition Plan identifying physical obstacles limiting access to programs, services, and activities by persons with disabilities.

 

WHEREAS, the last time the City of Pittsburgh completed an ADA Transition plan was 1992, nearly 32 years ago.

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor’s Office of Equal Protection completed a procurement and EORC process for the ADA Transition Plan to select Precision Infrastructure Management, an industry leader in Municipal Asset Management Plans and ADA Transition Plans.

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor’s Office of Equal Protection chose PIM because of their detailed and inclusive proposal as well as their previous work for large municipalities.

 

WHEREAS, as part of the ADA Transition Plan, PIM will do a comprehensive review of all City policies, facilities, programs, services, and activities to ensure that they are ADA compliant and create a plan for the City to resolve outstanding issues.

 

WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh now seeks to enter into a contract with PIM to complete the ADA Transition Plan.

 

 

Be it resolved by the Council for the City of Pittsburgh as follows:

 

Section 1.                     The Mayor, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, is hereby authorized to enter into an Agreement or Agreements with Precision Infrastructure Management for services related to the ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan for a sum not to exceed Six Hundred Twenty Thousand Seven Hundred Forty Dollars and Zero Cents ($620,740.00).

 

Funds shall be paid from the following JDE accounts:

Section 2.                     Said Agreement or Agreements shall be approved by the City Solicitor as to form.
