WHEREAS, A native of Ambridge, PA, Mr. Timothy L. Kuzma joined the Polish Falcons of America in 1977 as a member of Nest 182 in Ambridge; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Kuzma assumed various positions within the 20,000-member Falcons organization and has been an active member for many years by substantially contributing to the ethnic and cultural life of Western Pennsylvania; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Kuzma graduated from Point Park College in 1983 with a degree in Journalism and Communication and worked several years as a reporter for the Sewickley Herald weekly newspaper; and,
WHEREAS, in 1985, Mr. Kuzma was hired as Editor of Sokol Polski (Polish Falcon in English), the official publication of the Polish Falcons and one of the oldest Polish-American publications in the United States; and,
WHEREAS, at the National Convention in 1996, he was elected National First Vice President of the Polish Falcons of America and has been elected to other positions including National Secretary/Treasurer and now is currently serving as President; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Kuzma has also served as President of the Fraternal Societies of Greater Pittsburgh in 2004 and is the current Treasurer; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Kuzma has further been an active member in Pittsburgh’s Polish-American community by serving as Director and Choreographer of the Polonia Song and Dance Ensemble of Pittsburgh, who perform in various cities and have even traveled to Poland; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Kuzma was honored with the prestigious Order of Merit from the Republic of Poland for his contributions in support of Polish culture and Polish causes in the United States and the Award was bestowed personally by the Honorable Bronsilaw Komorowski, President of the Republic of Poland; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Kuzma received the Fraternalist of the Year Award from the Fraternal Societies of Greater Pittsburgh, and the Polonian of the year Award from the Kusciuszko Foundation Pittsburgh Chapter and also received the Skalny Civik Achievement Award from the Polish American Historical Association; and,

NOW THEREFORE IT BE RESOLVED, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh thank the Polish Falcons of America for their contributions of supporting Polish causes and culture in the City of Pittsburgh; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare August 2, 2016 to be “Timothy Kuzma Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
