Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby commends and thanks the members of Attack Theatre for their contribution to the Arts; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares Monday, November 10, 2006 "Attack Theatre Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Attack Theatre was founded in 1994 with a mission to connect artists and audiences through the process and production of personal, accessible dance-based performance; and
WHEREAS, Attack Theatre was formed by Artistic Directors Peter Kope and Michele de la Reza, who have created a repertory of nearly 100 original works; and
WHEREAS, Attack Theatre has toured across the United States and abroad in Europe and Asia; and
WHEREAS, Attack Theatre's home base is a former industrial laundry-turned-dance studio in Pittsburgh's Penn Avenue Arts Corridor; and
WHEREAS, Attack Theatre choreographs for the Pittsburgh Opera <http://www.pittsburghopera.org>, Quantum Theater <http://www.quantumtheatre.com> and the Pittsburgh Symphony <http://www.pittsburghsymphony.org>; and
WHEREAS, Attack Theatre has received grants, commissions, and recognition from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Pittsburgh Dance Council, numerous Pittsburgh and national foundations, the Harry Schwalb Excellence in the Arts Award, and Pittsburgh Magazine's "Fabulous 40 under 40"; and
WHEREAS, Attack Theatre was named one of the "Top 50 Cultural Leaders of Pittsburgh" by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in 2003 and 2004; and
WHEREAS, Attack Theatre is on the roster of teaching artists of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and a member of the Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour; and
WHEREAS, Attack Theatre will be celebrating ten years of dance, music and dynamic performances with this fall's production of The Kitchen Sink; and
WHEREAS, The Kitchen Sink opens at the New Hazlett Theater on Pittsburgh's Northside, on Friday, November 10, 2006 at 8 p.m.
