Whereas, Zachary Elias Mansour, a junior at Seton LaSalle Catholic High School and resident of Pittsburgh, is a member of Troop 6, Screamin’ Eagles of the Boy Scouts of America under the leadership of Scoutmaster Fred Metting, and;
Whereas, Zachary is an incredibly involved young person and serves as an example for his peers as captain of the junior varsity soccer team, a member of the stage crew, managing sound and building sets, a founder of the computer technology club, and a part of the audiovisual department that runs the morning announcements with a group of students, and;
Whereas, Zachary’s past activities have also earned him recognition, as captain of the robotics team in grade school, a helping hand for teachers whose computers were malfunctioning, a volunteer to raise and lower the American flag in front of his school, and an Altar Server at Church of the Resurrection, and;
Whereas, Zachary became involved with the Boy Scouts of America as a Tiger Scout, which is where first graders begin in the Cub Scouts. In his tenure with the Boy Scouts, Zachary has learned skills such as leadership, working with others, and doing service, all while living by the Scout Oath and Scout Law in his everyday life, and;
Whereas, Zachary has gained leadership skills by serving as Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and is currently the Senior Patrol Leader of the troop. Zachary has traveled to many states and participated in numerous camping trips where he also gained valuable skills, experiences, and memories, and;
Whereas, on January 10, 2016, Zachary was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at the Church of the Resurrection in the Brookline neighborhood of Pittsburgh. The Eagle Scout award is one of the most honorable awards that a young man can received, and requires hard work to achieve this level of recognition, and;
Whereas, in addition to his other commitments and activities, Zachary’s Eagle Scout project was the renovation of the girl’s locker room in the garden room of Church of the Resurrection, which included breaking up and removing concrete base and old lockers, scrubbing ceramic tile walls, painting, building shelves, laying carpet, upgrading light, and placing tables and furniture into the space, which is used extensively by the church, and;
Whereas, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh thanks Zachary for his hard work and dedication to serving as a model for being an engaged and effective young person, and;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh congratulates Zachary on this major life achievement, and;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare January 26, 2016 to be “Zachary Elias Mansour” Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
