WHEREAS, RoseMary Seals was born on January 5, 1933 in the City of Pittsburgh to Pastor AK Walker and Isabella Yankey Way and is celebrating 90 years of life; and,

WHEREAS, RoseMary graduated with honors from Oliver High School in 1951. She was spiritually dedicated at the age of six and has been a lifelong member and servant to Triumph The Church and Kingdom of God in Christ; and,
WHEREAS, in the late 1960s, she joined the United States Postal Service holding various processing, delivery, and leadership positions offering mentorship and guidance to many. She retired after 30 years, and turned her efforts to community service, supporting programs for disadvantaged families and being a Companion and Caregiver for the elderly at the Schenley Gardens Senior Center; and,
WHEREAS, RoseMary studied theology and became one of the very first female ordained ministers in the early 1990’s. She has spent time abroad in Madrid, Paris, and Milan making lifelong friends across the globe and furthering her ministry. She currently travels for speaking engagements and church related conferences serving Triumph The Church of Kingdom of God in Christ; and,
WHEREAS, RoseMary is a passionate community servant, supporting The Hill House and Kay Boys Club, volunteering with the NAACP, Kirkpatrick Street location, and partnering with her faith-based colleagues across the Hill District to support disadvantaged, disenfranchised, and marginalized families; and,
WHEREAS, RoseMary married John Seals and is the mother of four children; the late Pamela Renee, Ghadud N’um El (born Terrence Lee), Glenn Darryl and Sherian Vernee. She is has nine grandchildren (two deceased), Seventeen great-grandchildren (two deceased), and two great-great grandchildren; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Rev. RoseMary Seals for her service to God and her community and wish her a Happy 90th Birthday; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Thursday, January 5, 2023 to be “Reverend RoseMary Seals Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
