WHEREAS, Paul Depp, affectionately known as the “Mayor of Main,” has devoted nearly 40 years of his professional life to Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh (CLP), serving as a familiar face, trusted colleague, and welcoming presence at the Library; and,
WHEREAS, since joining CLP on November 6, 1986, Paul has brought creativity and a spirit of collaboration to every corner of CLP - Main through his artwork, craftmanship, and support of critical Library initiatives, including Summer Reading, Extravaganza, and Love Your Library; and,
WHEREAS, throughout his nearly four decades at CLP as a Graphic Designer in the Communications & Creative Services Department, Paul could be found creating signs, installing Gallery displays, designing and packaging promotional materials, or lending a hand wherever needed; and,
WHEREAS, Paul frequently shared his talents to create special artwork for CLP occasions and uses, including a series of drawings showcasing various architectural features at several CLP library branches; and,
WHEREAS, Paul has long been known for his warmth, humor, generosity, and ability to make people feel welcome, building strong relationships with staff, patrons, and visitors alike; and,
WHEREAS, Paul’s collaborative spirit and joyful approach to customer service have left a lasting mark on the Library and on the generations of colleagues and patrons fortunate enough to have known him; and,
WHEREAS, reflecting on his career, Paul describes his time at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh as “a blessing-of-a-journey,” one he has been honored to be part of.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and celebrate Paul Depp for his decades of dedicated service to Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and congratulate him upon the occasion of his retirement; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare May 28, 2026, to be “Paul Depp Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
