                     WHEREAS, Love is not about finding the right person, but creating a right relationship.  It's not about how much love you have in the beginning but how much love you build till the end.  Seventy years ago Manuel Gold, son of Tillie and Jacob Gold, met Sylvia Lichtstein, daughter of Helen and Samuel Lichtstein ~ found love and built upon that love a lasting and caring life together.  So great was this love that Sylvia left the Big Apple for the then sooty, smoky steel town for her sweetheart Manny; and,

                     WHEREAS, Sylvia and Manny began a family ~ two sons, Sanford and Russell ~ who also fell in love and married Elinor and Rae, and made Sylvia and Manny the proud grand parents of five grandchildren, Robert, Karen, Sue, Lisa, and Erika, who in turn gave Manny and Sylvia with a new title ~ Great Grandparents ~ to six children, Jessica, Alon, Julie, Jake, Jordan and Max; and,

                     WHEREAS, for the past 70 years, Sylvia and Manny have shared one life devoted to one another and family.  Together they weathered storms great and small found enduring happiness through it all.  They nurtured each other with kindness, respect, love and affection.  Their kindness was not limited to family and both gave to all lending a helping hand, a kind word of encouragement, and contributing much to the their community in ways too numerous to mention.  Their friendships, new and old, endure as much as their love for one another; and,

                     WHEREAS, the secret to this marriage is simple ~ Sylvia and Manny understand that we attract love by the emotions we display; we retain love by the emotions we possess. Falling in love is easy ~ staying in love requires work.  Together the made a happy home and the happiness spilled over the walls and into the world around them.  Sylvia nurtured her children as well as Manny who pursued a successful career in real estate, and was forever involved for the betterment of his community through charitable service and involvement in local politics as attested to the Democratic Party's Lifetime Achievement award in 2004, and;

                     WHEREAS, Sylvia and Manny, now both in their "young" 90's, have cared for each other in good times and in bad, sickness and in health.  They built their lives upon a foundation of love, family, friends and Jewish values, thereby fortifying their descendents and fiber of the entire Pittsburgh community.
