WHEREAS, “Trapper” Tom Leturgey, a Cambria County native, moved to Western Pennsylvania in the mid-1980s to attend California University of Pennsylvania (now PennWest California). Since graduating in 1990, his passion for writing, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and professional wrestling has remained a central part of his life; and,

WHEREAS, for over 20 years, “Trapper” Tom Leturgey has shared a wide range of stories through publications like The Valley Mirror, The Tube City Almanac, and various online platforms. Recently, he made his debut as a Public Address Announcer for the American Basketball Association's Steel City Yellow Jackets. His dedication to journalism has earned him three prestigious Western Pennsylvania Press Club "Golden Quill" awards; and,

 

WHEREAS, as an adjunct professor at CCAC, “Trapper” Tom Leturgey has taught a class on the history of professional wrestling, focusing on its rich legacy and significance in Pittsburgh. In 2005, he joined the Keystone State Wrestling Alliance (KSWA) as a ring announcer, bringing his enthusiasm and charisma to the role. Over the years, he expanded his involvement, becoming the Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications, where he writes features and news pieces for the KSWA; and,

 

WHEREAS, Tom Leturgey has diligently served as the Managing Editor of the KSWA Digest, covering Pittsburgh’s premier professional wrestling organization through writing, editing, and photography. His time with the Keystone State Wrestling Alliance has been especially meaningful, as he shared the experience with his son, Taylor, who provided music for the “Krazies” for several years; and,

 

WHEREAS, beyond his editorial work, Tom has made numerous appearances to promote fundraising events, hosted videos and interviews, and taken on many other roles-perhaps to the playful dismay of his wife, “Maid Marion;” and,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh proudly recognizes and commends “Trapper” Tom Leturgey for his exceptional storytelling, unwavering enthusiasm, and dedication to the fans of the Keystone State Wrestling Alliance, affectionately known as the “Krazies;” and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, February 22, 2025 to be “Tom Leturgey Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
