WHEREAS the Reverend Dr. Lacy F. Richardson was born in Lyndhurst, Virginia and was the only son of the late Lacy and Roxie Richardson; and
WHEREAS Reverend Richardson's life has been devoted to fulfilling not only his spiritual calling but also to honing his God-given intellect, having received post-graduate degrees from Penn State University, Ohio Christian College, the University of Pittsburgh, and the International Bible Seminary; and
WHEREAS the Reverend Dr. Lacy Richardson has served a number of religious communities throughout the years, including the Mount Zion Baptist Church in West Newton, PA (1971), the First Baptist Church in Donora, PA (1974), the St. John Baptist Church in Wilmerding, PA (1979), and finally, his current congregation at the Metropolitan Baptist Church, located on Pittsburgh's Northside (1981); and
WHEREAS in 1999, after 28 years of service, the Rev. Dr. Richardson retired from his position as the Associate Executive Director/Director of Human Resources of the Mon-Yough Community Services, Inc. Group of McKeesport, PA; and
WHEREAS Reverend Richardson has served on a number of boards throughout the course of his personal and professional life, including the Steel Valley O.I.C. Board (VP), the McKeesport Youth Service Corporation, and the Auberle Home for Boys, where he also acted as the Coordinator for the Parents of the Adult Mentally Ill; and
WHEREAS in his many volunteer positions and board memberships, the Reverend Dr. Richardson has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Humanitarian and Outstanding Citizen Award, the Outstanding Volunteer Award from the Auberle Home for Boys, induction into the Who's Who Among Professional Black Americans Society, appointment to Governor Casey's Mon Valley Task Force on Housing and Human Services, and induction into the McKeesport Alumni Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS Reverend Lacy F. Richardson is also husband to Regina Crick Richardson and father to their four children: Darnel, Tina, Alexander, and Dori, as well as the proud grandfather of their five grandchildren: Lindsay, Kendall, Anthony, Jalen, and Mia; and
WHEREAS on Sunday, August 6th, the congregation of the Metropolitan Baptist Church will be celebrating Rev. Richardson's 25th Pastoral Anniversary with a worship service whose theme will be, "And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding" (Jeremiah 3:15); and
WHEREAS the members of the Metropolitan Church will also be hosting a celebratory anniversary banquet for Reverend Dr. Richardson to be held at the Radisson Hotel in Monroeville, PA, on Friday, August 11th, with a reception to begin at 6:30 p.m. and a dinner to follow at 7:30 p.m.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby wishes to commend the Reverend Dr. Lacy F. Richardson for a lifetime of devoted and diligent service both to his past and present congregants and to the residents of the City of Pittsburgh at large.
