Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and honor the important work of Comcast on its 12th Comcast Cares Day for its dedicated service toward the improvement of our communities, and does hereby declare Saturday, April 27, 2013, to be “Comcast Cares Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Comcast remains an active, committed and engaged member of the City of Pittsburgh as demonstrated by years of Comcast Cares Day in neighborhoods throughout the city; and
WHEREAS, Comcast supports the core American value of volunteerism through partnerships, grants and service activities that empower individuals and organized communities; and   
WHEREAS, in celebration of its 12th Comcast Cares Day, Comcast had donated 2.1 million hours of service and over $10.5 million in grants to organizations nationwide; and
WHEREAS, Comcast Cares Day is one of the largest national days of service that brings employees, families, friends, and community partners together for a common purpose celebrating an active, committed and engaged community in neighborhoods throughout the City of Pittsburgh; and
Whereas, on Saturday, April 27, 2013, Comcast, in partnership with the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh, will clean and paint at the Northview Heights Family Support Center on Hazlett Street; will plant 175 trees in Highland Park in partnership with Tree Vitalize and the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy; will perform inventory work at the Storehouse for Teachers on Corliss Street; will do a spring cleanup at the Sarah Heinz House Boys and Girls Club on the North Side; will perform painting and cleanup in partnership with the Woodland Hills Foundation at Dickson Elementary School; along with a blood drive at Comcast's Corliss facility in the West End, among other projects; and
WHEREAS, Comcast Cares Day promotes a spirit of corporate responsibility thanks to the hard work, dedication and service of almost 2,000 Comcast volunteers throughout the Pittsburgh region, many of them residents in the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County;
