WHEREAS, the Northside Leadership Conference is a coalition of 14 North Side neighborhoods and other community stakeholders. The Northside Leadership Conference serves the entire North Side community covering 20% of the city, which is the largest service area of any community development corporation in the City; and,
WHEREAS, the Northside Leadership Conference serves North Side neighborhoods through seven major business lineslines including real estate development, business development, workforce development, public realm improvements, public safety initiatives, health and wellness programs, communications and advocacy.
WHEREAS, on June 7, 2007, members, partners and supporters of the Northside Leadership Conference will join together for the Twenty-Fourth Annual Northside Leadership Awards Dinner, where Neighborhood, Scholarship and Service Providers will be recognized for their many contributions; and,
WHEREAS, the 2007 NSLC recipients include Neighborhood Awardees comprised of residents and community leaders who have accomplished economic and residential development, neighborhood planning and many volunteer hours of service to each of their communities; the Scholarship Awardees comprised of grade 12 students who have providedperformed volunteer services and plan to attend college or trade school, and the Good Neighbor Service Provider Award honors an agency working collaboratively within the community. WHEREAS, the theme for the 2007 Awards Dinner is "Where is Allegheny City?" in recognition of the Centennial of the Annexation of the City of Allegheny by the City of Pittsburgh, on December 7, 1907.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby acknowledges the many contributions of the 2007 awardees and extends gratitude to each individual and organization for making the North Side a great place to live, work and play; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council acknowledges the efforts that the NSLC has achieved through collaboration with community and corporate organizations and hereby declares Thursday, June 7, 2007 as Northside Leadership Conference and Awardees Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
