Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Harry Readshaw for unrelenting efforts and dedication to the citizens of the 36th Legislative District, this dedication has earned him the recognition of Man of the Year; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby proclaim Friday, May 5, 2006 as "Representative Harry Readshaw Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Rep. Harry Readshaw, Democrat from the 36th Legislative District, Allegheny County, was elected in 1995 to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.  The district includes:  West Homestead, Baldwin, Mt. Oliver, Brentwood and Whitehall; and the 16th, 17th, 18th, 29th, 30th, 31st and 32nd Wards in the City of Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, Rep. Harry Readshaw serves on the House Committee membership:  Professional Licensure Committee; Consumer Affairs Committee; Game and Fish Committee; and
WHEREAS, Rep. Harry Readshaw is the founder of the Pennsylvania Gettysburg Monuments Project and on the Board of Directors of the National Civil War Museum; and
WHEREAS, Rep. Harry Readshaw is a life-long resident of the City of Pittsburgh, Third Generation owner-operator of The Readshaw Funeral Home, a First certified funeral practitioner in Allegheny County; and
WHEREAS, Rep. Harry Readshaw graduated Carrick High School in 1959; Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, 1962; attended Duquesne University, and served in the United States Marine Corps, active and reserve duty; and
WHEREAS, Rep. Harry Readshaw served on the Committee on Excellence for Pittsburgh Public Schools, Past President of the Carrick Business Association, and the Carrick Community Council; served on the boards of the Allegheny County Sanitary Authority, the  Redevelopment Authority Allegheny County, and Allegheny League of Municipalities; and
WHEREAS, Harry Readshaw is married to wife Carol since 1966, and they are blessed with three children, Hank, Megan and Malinda, and four grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, the South Side Chamber of Commerce will be honoring State Representative Harry Readshaw as "Man of the Year," at the Annual Dinner on Friday, May 5, 2006.
