WHEREAS, Ms. Angelina Mico is a resident of Point Breeze, and graduated with honors from Oakland Catholic High School, Class of 2019; and,
WHEREAS, she has been an avid lover of rowing since the eighth grade; and,
WHEREAS, she continued to nurture her passion for the sport by joining Three Rivers Junior Rowing; and,
WHEREAS, for the past three years Ms. Mico has successfully qualified at the Midwest Regional Championships to go on to compete at US Rowing Youth National Championships; and,
WHEREAS, she has been awarded multiple gold, silver, and bronze medals at the Women’s Youth Lightweight Regional and National Championships; and,
WHEREAS, by attending the US Rowing High Performance camp last summer, Ms. Mico further demonstrated her commitment to the sport; and,
WHEREAS, she plans to attend the University of Wisconsin at Madison and row for Women’s Lightweight Team in the fall of 2019; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Mico’s example of hard work, dedication, and determination is an inspiration to all; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby celebrate the important contribution of Ms. Angelina Mico to the Pittsburgh community; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, September 10th, 2019 to be “Angelina Mico Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
