Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Paul Leger for his extraordinary career of public service and for his lasting contributions to the fiscal strength, effective governance, and continued progress of Pittsburgh and extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues and celebrates a legacy of service that will continue to inspire future public servants; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, September 22, 2026, to be "Paul Leger Day of Public Service and Fiscal Stewardship" in the City of Pittsburgh in recognition of his distinguished service and enduring contributions to the City and its people.

WHEREAS, Paul Leger dedicated more than four decades of his career to public service, distinguished by integrity, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to improving the quality of life for the residents of the City of Pittsburgh; and

WHEREAS, throughout his career, Mr. Leger earned the respect of elected officials, civic leaders, colleagues, and community stakeholders through his thoughtful leadership, collaborative approach, and steadfast dedication to responsible government; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Leger’s career with the City of Pittsburgh spanned a wide and impressive range of roles within the Personnel Department, the Mayor’s Office, the Parks and Recreation Department, the Pittsburgh Zoo, and the Finance Department where he consistently worked to provide the highest quality of services to citizens in the most economically efficient manner; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure Mr. Leger served five different Mayors promoting sound fiscal management, transparent budgeting, responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources, and strategic long-term planning, to position the City for lasting financial stability; and

WHEREAS, he served in leadership roles with the Pennsylvania Economy League and the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, helping to strengthen regional cooperation, promote economic opportunity, and advance public policy initiatives that benefited the City of Pittsburgh and Southwestern Pennsylvania as a whole; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Leger further served the people of Pittsburgh through his work with the Intergovernmental Cooperation Authority, the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority, the Pittsburgh Land Bank, and numerous civic and regional organizations, lending his expertise to strengthen public institutions and improve services for residents; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Leger is remembered not just for his wide-ranging efforts to improve the performance of city government and the lives of Pittsburgh residents, but also for his generosity as a mentor, ...
