Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby recognizes, commends and thanks physician assistants for the medical care they provide throughout the year; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares October 6-12, 2010, "Physician Assistant Week" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, physician assistants around the country will celebrate October 6-12, 2010 as National Physician Assistant Week; and
 
WHEREAS, on October 6, 1967, the first physician assistant graduated from Duke University; and
 
WHEREAS, today there are more than 74,000 physician assistants in the United States and over 4,000 practice in Pennsylvania; and
 
WHEREAS, quality health care is an important concern of the citizens of Pittsburgh; and
 
WHEREAS, affordable and accessible medical care is essential for the well-being of all citizens; and
 
WHEREAS, physician assistants are recognized as important members of the health care delivery team, working closely with their supervising physicians to enhance the quality of medical care in the City of Pittsburgh; and

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby recognizes, commends and thanks physician assistants for the medical care they provide throughout the year; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares October 6-12, 2010, "Physician Assistant Week" in the City of Pittsburgh.
