Title
WHEREAS, Carrick High School provides education to grades nine through twelve under the administration of principal Anita Burley; and
WHEREAS, The 2007 Carrick Raiders Girls Volleyball Team won the City League Championship Title by defeating Allderdice and Schenley High Schools in the City Tournament; and
WHEREAS, under coach Melissa Vensel, and assistant coach Kaela Bolster, The Raiders had an overall record of 9 - 2 and 7 - 1 in the City; and
WHEREAS, Jessica Armstrong, Jessica Englert, Chelsea Johnson, Taylor Koch, Shelly Luczynski, Patricia Maloney, Caitlin McIntyre, Lindsey Miele, Heather Moran, Caitlyn Schwam, Kayla Stadelman, Chelsey Thornton, Nicole Wiseman, Megan Ziegler and Alex Zirngibl have all worked very hard to become City League Champions; and
WHEREAS, The 2007 Carrick Raiders Volleyball Team achieved this noteworthy goal through individual commitment, teamwork and discipline; and
WHEREAS, the memories and friendships these teammates take from this year's season can be a source of pride and achievement made possible through the support of each other; and
WHEREAS, the players, their families and coaches have followed through with the persistence necessary to achieve this goal and win this championship for themselves and their school;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend The 2007 Carrick Raiders Volleyball Team for their hard work and contribution to The City of Pittsburgh.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby proclaim Tuesday, December 18th, 2007 as "Carrick Raiders Volleyball Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
