Title: WHEREAS, on Monday, December 17, 2007 the City of Pittsburgh wishes to honor Gino Binkert on receiving Scholarships awards of $36,000 to further his education at Slippery Rock University; and WHEREAS, Gino won a statewide competition held in Harrisburg, PA sponsored by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and his life story captured the hearts of the judges. Gino is the second youth of Sarah Heinz House member to achieve this honor in it's 106 year history, receiving $9,000 in Scholarship money; and WHEREAS, Gino represented the entire state, competing against winners from Maryland, New England, New Jersey and West Virginia for the Regional Competition, and he went on to compete in DC for the national honor in September; and WHEREAS, Gino Binkert an 18 year old graduate of Perry Traditional Academy, had a 3.6 average and took AP courses in Math and English. WHEREAS, Gino won a statewide competition held in Harrisburg, PA sponsored by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and his life story captured the hearts of the judges. WHEREAS, Gino is very active in Sarah Heinz House. He joined at age 8 and participated until age 18 when he left for Slippery Rock University. His activities included playing basketball and serving as a referee and coaching for three levels of leagues including basketball, soccer and hockey. In addition, he participated in activities such as Lead Team, Keystone Club, holiday plays and was a counselor at the Sarah Heinz House Camp.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends and celebrates the outstanding achievement and inspiration Gino gave to other youths and congratulates him on winning the Northeast Region Honor from the Boys & Girls Club of America.
