Title: WHEREAS, Family House is an affordable home away from home for patients and families who travel to Pittsburgh for the evaluation and treatment of serious or life threatening illnesses; and, WHEREAS , Family House , a non-profit corporation operated by a voluntary Board of Directors, opened its doors in 1983 and has touched the lives of people from every state in the nation and 44 countries worldwide who come to Pittsburgh for specialized treatment and stay at one of the 3 Family House facilities; and, WHEREAS, Family House Polo is the signature fundraising event which raises money to keep room rates affordable for all of the guests and has become a well-loved traditional opening to the Fall social season in Pittsburgh; and, WHEREAS, Family House Polo will be held on September 8, 2007, at Hartwood Acres , with gates opening at 11:00 AM with merchandise boutiques and activities for all ages and the polo match beginning at 1:00PM featuring two renowned polo teams bringing back...

WHEREAS , Family House , a non-profit corporation operated by a voluntary Board of Directors, opened its doors in 1983 and has touched the lives of people from every state in the nation and 44 countries worldwide who come to Pittsburgh for specialized treatment and stay at one of the 3 Family House  facilities; and,
 
WHEREAS, Family House Polo is the signature fundraising event which  raises money to keep room rates affordable for all of the guests and has become a well-loved traditional opening to the Fall social season in Pittsburgh; and,
 
WHEREAS, Family House Polo will be held on September 8, 2007, at Hartwood Acres , with gates opening at 11:00 AM with merchandise boutiques and activities for all ages and the polo match beginning at 1:00PM featuring two renowned polo teams bringing back the traditions of "Polo in Pittsburgh" and  hosting more than 2000 guests; and,
 
WHEREAS, this year's Family House Polo will feature a theme highlighting a three year focus on families building up to the 25th year of Family House with There's No One Like Family, There's No Place Like Home, and Welcome Home to Family House.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize how important it is for families to be together during stressful times and honors the remarkable work of  Family House ; and,
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declares September 8, 2007, to be "Family House Polo Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
