Title: WHEREAS, the stunning summation of the eight-week Annual Miss Black Teenage/Miss Princess Program was held on May 13, 2007 at Soldiers and Sailors Hall. This event allows the community to revel in the talents of the beautiful and brilliant contestants as they build the confidence, awareness, and pride needed to succeed in today's competitive world; and, WHEREAS, the Miss Black Teenage/Miss Princess program is based on an honorable five-pronged value system of education encouragement, performing arts coaching, African-American history education, role model exposition, and competition preparation; and, WHEREAS, in keeping with their focus on education, the Miss Black Teenage/Miss Princess Program and Clarion University award scholarships to present and former contestants; and, WHEREAS, the Miss Black Teenage/Miss Princess Program has graduated almost 1,800 beautiful and intelligent young ladies since 1973 who have achieved success in business, education, art, and government; and, ...

WHEREAS, the stunning summation of the eight-week Annual Miss Black Teenage/Miss Princess Program was held on May 13, 2007 at Soldiers and Sailors Hall.  This event allows the community to revel in the talents of the beautiful and brilliant contestants as they build the confidence, awareness, and pride needed to succeed in today's competitive world; and,
      WHEREAS, the Miss Black Teenage/Miss Princess program is based on an honorable five-pronged value system of education encouragement, performing arts coaching, African-American history education, role model exposition, and competition preparation; and,
      WHEREAS, in keeping with their focus on education, the Miss Black Teenage/Miss Princess Program and Clarion University award scholarships to present and former contestants; and,
      WHEREAS, the Miss Black Teenage/Miss Princess Program has graduated almost 1,800 beautiful and intelligent young ladies since 1973 who have achieved success in business, education, art, and government; and,
      WHEREAS, the winners of this year's programs displayed exceptional performances in the Poise, Talent, and Question and Answer categories in which they were judged; and,
WHEREAS, 10-year-old Malika Fields of Lawrenceville, a student of Rogers School for the Creating and Performing Arts, championed the other 10-12-year-olds in her division to be named 2007 Miss Princess; and,
      WHEREAS, 13-year-old Jatara McGee of New Kensington, a student of Shadyside Academy, competed against the other 13-17-year-olds in her division and emerged victorious as  the 2007 Miss Black Teenage Queen.
 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate this year's winners of Miss Black Teenage Queen and Miss Princess and thanks the gallant supporters of this program for encouraging young ladies everywhere to have a positive attitude and a high sense of self-esteem.
