WHEREAS, DeDe Faltot Rittman, a multi-talented, multi-tasking teacher, coach, golfer, theater advocate and publisher brings an extraordinary enthusiasm to her work, her avocations and her life; and,
WHEREAS, having attended Edinboro University and the University of Pittsburgh, DeDe taught in the North Allegheny School District for 35 years, teaching English and Theater and creating the Introduction to Theater Class. At NAHS, she sponsored the Dance Club, the Calligraphy Club, Student Council and served as Director of NAHS Spring Musical and Intermediate Talent Show for years. DeDe served on the Executive Council of the NA Federation of Teachers for many years and was a Trustee of the NA Foundation for Excellence, a nonprofit group which funds innovative teaching projects; and,
WHEREAS, an avid golfer, DeDe coached both Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys Golf at North Allegheny. She has been a member of the Golf Steering Committee of the WPA Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL). She is a volunteer rules official with the WPA Golf Association and is Chairperson of the Standing Rules for the Women’s Golf Association of WPA; and,
WHEREAS, DeDe wrote Student Teaching: The Inside Scoop from a Master Teacher, a book designed to help those about to enter classroom teaching by offering solid information about classroom management and discipline, school politics, getting involved in student activities , technology, special needs/inclusion and forging effective relationships with parents. DeDe is also the owner of Rittman Publishing, LLC.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize, commend and congratulate DeDe Rittman on her many achievements and accomplishments, for the hundreds of lives she has touched with her teaching and coaching and for the enthusiasm and energy she brings to everything she does.
