Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Ms. Karlee Ralston for her dedication to her education and to the City of Pittsburgh and congratulates Karlee for her recognition as an Executive Scholar of The Pittsburgh Promise; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, July 30, 2013, to be “Karlee Ralston Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Ms.  Karlee Ralston of Westwood was chosen as an Executive Scholar of the Pittsburgh Promise and as such was named one of five 2013 UPMC Scholars of The Pittsburgh Promise; and,
 
WHEREAS, Executive Scholars are matched with Pittsburgh companies who have provided exceptional support to The Promise and offers invaluable connections and relationships; and,
WHEREAS, to be awarded, Karlee had to receive a 3.5 GPA or above; dedication to education, and field of study; show commitment to the community; and demonstrate leadership skills; and,
 
WHEREAS, in addition, Executive Scholars must show commitment to the City of Pittsburgh by planning to work in and contribute to our region following graduation; and,
WHEREAS,  Karlee is a 2013 Honor Roll graduate of Brashear High School where she was a member of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), a starting 3rd baseman all four years  for Brashear Softball team and a 9 year member and player of the Pittsburgh Lady Roadrunner traveling softball organization; and,
 
WHEREAS, Ms. Ralston has been involved with the Westwood/Oakwood Athletic Association as a Player, a Coach and a Volunteer; and,    
 
WHEREAS, Karlee currently works with the City of Pittsburgh Citiparks BIG League Sports as a Sports Recreation Assistant (Monitor) and will be attending Duquesne University in the Fall where she will major in nursing to fulfill her goal as a Nurse Anesthetist; and,
