Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Mrs. Mary Lee for her commitment to the church and contribution to society; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday, April 14, 2013, to be “Mrs. Mary Lee Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Mary Lee was born and raised in Marion, Alabama April 13, 1911, to the late Joe Underwood and Estella Morgan.  She is the oldest surviving of four children.  She is the mother of two children, Oscar Underwood and Rosetta Williams, as well as a proud grandmother and great grandmother to many grandchildren; and,
 
WHEREAS, Mrs. Lee met and married Mr. Lee in Marion, Alabama.  Prior to moving to Pittsburgh in 2001, Mary Lee spent her working career in Alabama doing domestic work.  She was known for her dancing, partying, and home cooking.  As a devoted, loving, and supporting member of her church, she began her spiritual journey early, being baptized at 13 years old; and,
 
WHEREAS, On April 13, 2013, Mrs. Mary Lee celebrated her 102nd birthday.  Sunday April 14, 2013 St Paul Baptist Church celebrates her life during their morning service.  She is one of the oldest members in the congregation; and,
