WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Citizen's Police Academy provides an opportunity for the community to become exposed to the operations of the Pittsburgh Police Bureau with training from law enforcement professionals within the bureau; and,
WHEREAS, experienced and talented members of the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police share their knowledge and expertise regarding the basics of criminal law, search and seizure, patrol tactics, firearms, processing a crime scene, K-9, OMI and many other facets of law enforcement; and,
WHEREAS, the current class of Citizen's Police Academy received three hours of training one evening a week for a period of 15 weeks and have gained a great deal of understanding and insight into the operations of the Pittsburgh Police force; and,
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh congratulates the following candidates who have successfully completed the program:

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend all of those who gave their time and expertise to the residents of the City of Pittsburgh and to the residents for being willing to learn about the valuable work that the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police provide to this city; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, December 11, 2012, to be "Citizen's Police Academy Class 12-02 Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
