WHEREAS, The Allegheny Conference on Community Development partners with its affiliates, The Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce, the Pennsylvania Economy League of Southwestern Pennsylvania and the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance, to induce economic growth and improve the quality of life in our region; and,
WHEREAS, since its founding in 1944, The Allegheny Conference has grown to become one of the leading economic and community development organizations in US, with a constant goal of creating a competitive business friendly environment in order to let small local business flourish and create countless new jobs; and,
WHEREAS, using its three strategies to improve our region, The Allegheny Conference has secured 107 business expansions and relocations, which will create or retain 14,656 jobs and capital investment of $389.3 million, and has supported the creation of Vibrant Pittsburgh, a program that has encouraged people of diverse backgrounds to relocate and remain in the city of Pittsburgh; and,
WHEREAS, Southwestern Pennsylvania has been recognized for three years in a row as one of the top ten regions in business investment, has been named one of the top 3 among major metros nationwide when it comes to business expansion and relocations
, and one of the top twenty must see places in the world by National Geographic; and,
WHEREAS, Pittsburgh was named one of the top twenty must see places in the world because of its extreme metropolitan makeover from an industrial hot spot to a green, education and medicine based economy, with more than 10,000 jobs available at any given time, all impossible without the assistance that The Allegheny Conference and its affiliates provided
