WHEREAS, Small Seeds Development, Inc. was created in 2000 as a faith based non-profit dedicated to "Planting Seeds and Bearing Fruit"; and
WHEREAS, the mission of Small Seeds Development, Inc. is to support, strengthen, and sustain families to build strong and safe communities; and
WHEREAS, Small Seeds Development, Inc.'s goal is to combat community deterioration, homelessness, and juvenile delinquency, and to provide relief and care to children and families; and
WHEREAS, the Family Group Decision Making Program empowers families to call on extended family and community resources to address family issues in the best possible way; and
WHEREAS, the Mother to Son Program strengthens African American families by creating a stable home environment for single mothers and sons through a network of community resources; and
WHERAS, the Inua Ubuntu Program provides cultural, spiritual, and community-based intervention and child protection services that allows African American male children to live safely with their families in their own homes; and
WHEREAS, a signature event to honor and celebrate community leaders and the families Small Seeds Development, Inc serves will be held at the Lemont Restaurant on Mount Washington from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on September 27, 2012.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Small Seeds Development, Inc. for their work in empowering families and building a better community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare September 27, 2012 "Small Seeds Development Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
