WHEREAS, SWAN Day 2012 is coming to Pittsburgh on March 15th and 16th; and
WHEREAS, SWAN (Support Women Artists Now) Day was founded in 2008 to honor female artists around the world and draw attention to the great works they are producing; and
WHEREAS, SWAN Day Pittsburgh 2012 is a project of No Name Players, a nonprofit organization committed to providing opportunities for Pittsburgh-based theatre artists and presenting thought-provoking theatrical productions for the Greater Pittsburgh region; and
WHEREAS, SWAN Day Pittsburgh 2012 is an official international partner of the worldwide event, sharing this honor with cities in Kenya, Bulgaria, New York, Florida, Connecticut, and Massachusetts; and
WHEREAS, the 2012 events will feature two nights of eclectic art including more than 50 local artists to promote unity, poise, and progression throughout the Pittsburgh community among women of all ages and backgrounds; and
WHEREAS, each one of the works presented during SWAN Day Pittsburgh 2012 is a world premiere inspired by interviews with women from all across Pennsylvania.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the No Name Players and SWAN Day Pittsburgh 2012 for promoting works of art by female artists across the Pittsburgh region; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare March 15, 2012 to be "SWAN Day Pittsburgh 2012" in the City of Pittsburgh.
