WHEREAS, Beechview's first annual food festival, hosted by Crested Duck Charcuterie on a beautiful Saturday, June 9, 2012, was a terrific success, with hundreds of residents of Beechview, greater Pittsburgh, and Allegheny County in attendance to sample delicious prepared foods, drinks, and locally grown produce; and
WHEREAS, the first Taste of Beechview event showcased the inspiring vibrancy that is reemerging along the neighborhood's Broadway Avenue corridor, and the Beechview commercial district has continued to grow and evolve in new and exciting ways over the past twelve months; and
WHEREAS, the Second Annual Taste of Beechview festival will take place on Saturday, June 22nd, 2013, again highlighting the resurgence of the business district along Broadway Avenue and offering patrons another outdoor experience that celebrates the area's businesses, our region's farmers, and Pittsburgh's growing food truck scene; and
WHEREAS, this year's vendors will again include Crested Duck, Brew on Broadway, Slice, Casa Rasta, Tupelo Honey Teas, and North Woods Ranch; and welcomed for the first time this year are newcomers including Tienda la Jimenez, Homemade Delights, JC's Barber Shop, Beechview Carnegie Library, Clarion River Organics, Jarosiski Farm, Fukuda Food Truck, and more.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend owner and operator of Crested Duck Charcuterie Kevin Costa for his efforts in drawing attention to the revitalized Beechview business district by organizing and promoting the annual Taste of Beechview; and
THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, June 22nd, 2013 to be Taste of Beechview Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
